It's Taken a Long Time

It’s taken me so long to learn to love all of me
It’s been a long road from as far as the eye can see
Years of change and growing up
Putting away all those dilemmas that filled my cup
I use to worry about what others would think
I sat next them and I ‘d shrink
Now I know, I matter here too
I will only have positive feelings stick to me like glue
No more fussing about being rich or poor
All of this is becoming a chore
I questioned myself should I dye my grays?
“Oh maybe” I should just go out in a blaze
What was important to me then, is no longer?
I feel a great sense of being a lot stronger
Maybe it’s the stage of life
Or maybe it’s the lack of strife
No one said being human was easy
It’s taken me so long to love all of me
Now I can say I am finally free

Congrats on this selection. Hey! I have 8 cats and they all love me so long as I feed them. Strangely, this makes me happy, even love myself a little better. Love, daver
