Notes About The Poem

It's Over

It's Over

It's over.
No more lonely tears to cry.
It's over.
No more lies to lie.

No telling friends that you're okay when you know that you're not.
No telling you you're happy with the things that you ain't got.
No more waiting on a phone call you ain't ever gonna get.
It's all over but the hurting cause hurting's not over yet.

It's over.
No more long and lonely nights.
It's over.
No more senseless foolish fights.

No more reasons why you need to try, no more of his excuses.
To justify the reasons why for all of his abuses.
No more stories how it happened or how it all got started.
No more for you now that you're through for why he's so broken hearted.

It's over.
No more words left to say.
It's over.
No more begging you to stay.

The last time was the last time you said many times before.
But this time when you said it you walked right out his door.
No foolish pride or doubt inside, nowhere to run away.
No need to hide your tears all cried you left him there that day.

It's over.
Now what becomes of you?
It's over.
You're one no longer two.

Still you cry at night sometimes wondering where it went so wrong.
Where were all the happy times you dreamed of for so long?
The struggles that you fought so hard you knew you could not win.
Sorrows gone until tomorrow, when it all comes round again.

It's over.
No more lonely tears to cry.
It's over.
No more lies to lie

A very profound and touching piece on the struggles after a breakup or separation. Goodbye is still the hardest word to say but for some it means freedom and release. Vivid and strong lines convey accurately what a person feels. Brilliant style.

Thank you Cynthia :) For me that style is unique to this poem. I've tried to do something like it again but without much luck. I do agree on goodbye. For what's supposed to be the final word it can have some haunting after effects for a long time after. God bless! Ed
