I enjoy sometimes watching Oprah Winfrey's inspirational series called "Super Soul Sunday." When I saw Ms. Karen Armstrong discuss how to live a more compassionate life on an episode for which I will provide this link, it really jived with my way of thinking and it's what I am discussing in part with this poem.

Having lived by now more than half my life here on this earth, I feel qualified to speak my simple truth - a truth which I arrived at through things I have experienced and from questioning things I was taught from youth - both good and bad. It is this: Peace and love can reign when all people - no matter race, sex, or religion - respect each other by not doing anything to others that we would not want done to ourselves. The Golden Rule: it's as simple as that. Jan. 13, 2018 for Speak Your Truth Contest (N/A) Now for Line Gauthier's 'A STUNNER JANUARY 2018' Poetry Contest

Andrea, thanks for sharing the simple truth of the Golden Rule in a unique way - an hourglass representing each of our lives and the sands (words, actions, things we didn't do, etc.) for which are (and will be) held accountable. Congratulations on your win!! Many, many blessings to you and yours always! :) Bartholomew

And the crowd goes wild, applause is heard as feet stomp in concurrence of a simple truth so well delivered. It is as simple as that, a simplicity lost in mankind's complications. Love this ... CayCay

The golden rule. That's why it's so valuable. You've expressed very well how we learn things in life and in the end this is the most important lesson to learn AND practice and dwell on. :)

Nicely stated, Andrea, The Golden Rule, it's as simple as that . I just can't understand while people don't get it, but its been that way since the dawn of civilization. John

the woman I discuss in my poet notes says it this way: Do NOT do unto others what you would NOT done unto you. Not all people agree on what they like for good treatments, but I think all people agree they hate pain and sorrow heaped on them!
