Notes About The Poem

Edward's Pick-A-Tile, Vol. 55 Contest ~ 2/6/26

It's All Perspective

Life's defining moments, we endeavor to understand...
sometimes can be counted, unlike grains of sand.
As surely as moonlight rises and sunsets fall,
all four seasons overlap at Mother Nature's call.
We either accept or reject things by being reflective,
but we must be aware that it's all perspective.

We can hold on to memories or choose to let them go.
Keep a wellspring of happiness in our hearts or let it flow.
We also have the choice to allow recollections to fade.
These options are personal decisions that we've made.
We either consent or refuse things by being selective,
trying to prioritize by using the proper perspective.

We look at life as being a glass half empty or half full,
and tides ebbing or flowing at the moon's magnetic pull.
A relationship can ebb or flow if left on shaky ground,
but we can save it if we choose. A reason can be found.
We approve or ignore by being over or under protective
of our hearts. It's all a matter of our individual perspective.

We can spread our wings and fly away from worry
or rein responsibility in and change the end of our story.
Celestial starlight will continue to shine high overhead
whether or not we face the troubles we fear and dread.
We must search for solutions that will be most affective
and govern our lives by what we feel is best. It's all perspective.

The spectacle number and color matter. "We must search for solutions that will be most affective and govern our lives by what we feel is best. It's all perspective." Beautifully written. Congratulations!

A philosophical perspective here Lin, and a great poem for Edward’s contest, I agree life (and indeed poetry) is all about them, although I personally prefer to write from many perspectives all at once :), just like this one I picked out from your poem Celestial starlight will continue to shine high overhead whether or not we face the troubles we fear and dread, ain’t that the truth, cheers David

Thanks for always reading and commenting on my poetry. David. Mardi Gras buzzes every weekend for two weeks. Bourbon St is always filled with tourists and locals who don’t have families. Lots of revelry and debauchery. Mardi Gras day is actually on Tuesday the 17th.
