It's a Good Thing

It’s a good thing, I am convinced … To smile when everyone else is frowning To hold your head up even when you don’t feel well To say Hello or “Hi” if no one answers back To say “I’m sorry” to the person you wronged To stand on principles you’ve found tried and true. It’s a good thing, I am convinced … To avoid your vexatious neighbor To drive like you do when a policeman is behind you To call a friend before just dropping in To look like you’re having fun, even if you’re bored to tears To remember your parent’s “stupid” advice. It’s a good thing, I am convinced … To have a good, hearty laugh every single day To remember to say “I love you” to family and friends To be always courteous and polite To say what’s on your mind instead of stewing about it To do it now, rather than later. Hi! It’s been a while. Glad I came by for a read of this lovely, satisfying write. Honestly, for the flow and truth of statement, I think it could rival the famed “If” poem, which our parents hung framed on my brother’s and my bedroom walls. Needs illustrating and made into posters for a new generation. Bravo! sally
