It Was To Be Our Day

it was to be our day
we would take the motorcycle out
thru those two-lane mountain roads
but nature had other plans
i do so love you holding on
arms wrapped around me
as the woods go by
i feel as if we are running free
across life's great meadow
but today, i have the savor of breakfast
croissants, your chocked full omelet
crisp bacon, coffee, a touch of cinnamon
watching the rainfall, holding hands
occasional thunder, bolt racing across the sky
its crescendo startles you
my arm enfolds, the world is secure
the constant reminder
a day can never disappoint
the ordinary reveals the roots
are buried deep in the extraordinary
the depth of moments spent with you

"I feel as if we are running free across life's great meadow"..... those days of romance on the bike have now matured into days of serious pursuits and your hands now enfold her to assure the feel of safety... ! There is not essentially much change.... life continues to be beautiful. Lovely penning

my romance with the motorcycle came to an end in a head-on, it is a long story of a change in neuropathways from the accident and counseling as a result...i simply did no longer have that love. i also lost an appetite for red meat this happens sometimes in the firing of the amygdala to the hippocampus...because of my training, i have returned to some aspects to me but some are no longer there, my writing changed

Hi Timray: I didn’t know why you stopped riding……however that delicious sounding breakfast sounds like a nice way to enjoy the day. Nice writing my friend. SuZ

i ended up in counseling....not because of some horrific accident but because the firing from the amygdala to the hippocampus personality changes occurred...i lost all appeal to riding and shunned red meat among other aspects of my personal life....in a few aspects, it was like i woke up in a different body...it was weeks before my cats slept with me

Hello Timothy Ray, you created a very romantic poem. I miss the motorcycle. I enjoyed the motorcycle rides with my husband. He passed 6 years ago. Every time i see a motorcycle I vision myself on the back enjoying the ride. Enjoy your day my friend.

Hello Timothy, time has passed. I have moved on. My husband had a Gold Wing. What type of a motorcycle did you have? Did your wife lie to ride with you on the motorcycle? Just wondering. Enjoy your day my friend.
