It Started With A Blank Canvas
A pair of newborn eyes
Peeked out of a pink blanket
To find a hospital room ceiling
And all was white
It started with a blank canvas
A life had begun
Simple finger paintings at first
Graduated to a brush
The top corners filled in
The middle, the edges
The rest lay bare
Brushes at the ready
A palette of paints aplenty
Just sitting there, drying
Is there time to finish
Fill in the blanks
The stark staring emptiness
Before she sees white again
Found on a hospital room ceiling.
