What was I when the canvas was blank,
and your eyes invited me to find silent meanings?
you became a note played on my guitar
in candlelight desire
your welcomed fiery glow
dripped on the sense of my loneliness
passionate, burning, hungry
like melted wax on a candle stick
or was it all a hallucination,
blowing across my desert?
where I wandered on false promises
tethered to you
in time wasted with beds in empty rooms
where passion was a hunger met
devoured by the teeth of our starving souls
leaving us drained and unfulfilled
like two drunken lovers drinking from an empty bottle
we left on the side of our gravel road
from our pitiful lives
as what was became a memory
of scattered debris and distant thoughts
that will vanish in time
