It Is Love

It is love, That gets out of a warm bed in the middle of the night, Because the child had a bad dream. It is Love That traipses up the hill with feet that are light, To be by the sick bed of someone not well liked. It is Love, That shifts the worm to the right, To avoid a lonely death on the concrete. It is Love, That though looking a fright, Turns up for the school concert. It is Love, That ensures a clean fight, When two children have a friendship to win. It is Love, That refrains from getting tight, If a sober driver is needed. It is Love, That helps mend the Kite, Instead of watching the big game on TV. It is love, That keeps things light, By refraining to pay back in kind. It is Love, That cures the blight, We catch from letting hate in.

This poem describes my husband to a tee. I can't wait to show him. It is just heartwarming.

I am so glad you think so Marikate. Putting poetry out there is something we can do to ease some tension in the world and bring a few smiles back. We all seem to end up at the computer more than we should so might as well have some fun making other peoples day, while we play with words. Take care David in NZ

Thanks Laura. In today's world even before Covid were quick to react whenever a negative comment came their way. We have to get over ourselves. Also we are finding out the hard way that education without some basic values does not get one far. That is why emotional IQ is a better indicator of a persons worth. But poetry also teaches me to never give up hope that this can be turned around. Hope you find the positives that are still there this Christmas. Best regards David in NZ

Thank you so much. I have learned so much from other poets on the soup and think poetry is such a blessing at this time for many. My poems are now in the local paper on regular basis (for free) and I send poetry to people who need cheering up. We are lucky that our immediate family will be together for Christmas. Hope you have best Christmas possible under restrictions. Regards David in NZ
