It Happened On a Rainy Night - Collaboration

It Happened on a Rainy Night - Collaboration - 9-5-23
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Foggy mists engulfed the bright
When raindrops fell throughout the night
The lampposts glowed at midnight's dark
When sweethearts kissed at Lover's Park."
Raindrops pattered like two heartbeats
Nestled in a sheltered retreat,
Shared the velvet touch of a first kiss
Secret love, moments of bliss.
"Raindrops pattered like two heartbeats" Ahh, I absolutely love that line, feels so beautiful and heavenly! "Nestled in a sheltered retreat" Beautiful wordplay there.. "Velvet touch of a first kiss" Gorgeously and delicately described.. Indeed, the rhymes truly make this a very mellifluous and resplendent write.. Hued with mesmerizing romantic ambience!
Your response to the four lines is so poetic and full of romantic imagery.. It rhymes really well and you created so much in only four lines...great selection of words from your extensive vocabulary..
Nothing nicer than snuggling out of the rain keeping each other warm. This is wonderful Sam. When a poem gives me the warm and fuzzies, I know it must be good. and this one sure did. BOL
Hi SV! Agreed! Having grown up in the rainy northwest, I learned to love the sound of rain on a dark night especially hunkered down with my hubby! I am just delighted to know this short stanza was able to bring you into the cozy, warmth of this scene and share in the romantic kiss. You really warmed my heart knowing this stanza touched yours! Sending warm and cozy blessings and much gratitude!
Dearest Lasaad, your detailed feedback always honors my efforts and bring such joy to this poet's heart. Thank you so much. What fun to add another verse to Charlie's lovely stanza. He said so much in his four lines about romance, a cozy shelter, a rainy light illuminated by lamplight. I had fun putting myself into that picture and feeling the romantic emotion in his lines. Your lovely message brought a big smile to me. So grateful, dear friend. Sending you warm and cozy blessings!
So beautiful and temptingly romantic. Sitting in a sheltered retreat with the loved one in the stillness of the night when it rains outside and sharing the first kiss is indeed exhilarating! I am sure this beauty is going to be crowned ! All the Best dear Sam.
Hi Inky! Your wonderful, gracious feedback warmed my heart like the kiss of these lovers to the sound of rain. It sounds like you also love the patter of rain at night! So grateful for the beauty of your message. I love the sound of rain at night especially if snuggled up with my husband. Special indeed. And, I remember our first kiss when writing this collaboration. This was fun. Thank you for your best wishes! Blessings!
No football, but Cross Country (5K) boys and girls' teams, basketball, baseball, softball, bowling. My best sport was Cross Country. Ten years in a row we made it to the State Championships. Won it twice and had one or more runners on All State Team every year. I'm rambling. You're still very active, Sam. Good to hear it. Blessings my friend. Bill
Hi Bill! So glad this poem resonated with you! Charlie gave us a great foundation and inspiration! Was fun to discover you are a retired teacher and coach. Football? I no longer am a classroom teacher, but have some wonderful opportunities to teach adults, do workshops, teach on the Psalms and lead retreats! Additionally I have taught skiing and coached synchronized swimming! Never thought teaching would provide so many varied opportunities! Blessings!
