Israel Vs Hamas

Could conditions terribly sad
Lead captives to do something bad
When a sheriff not cool
Won’t let compassion rule  
Do lifers in prison go mad?

Did structure that forms Gaza’s pen
Encourage the Hamas gunmen
And with vengeance hot
Will Israel’s king-sized swat  
Hurt civilians at risk again?

Do dollars the contractors reap 
For the deadly weapons not cheap
Make reprisals cease 
Or bring lasting peace
After Gaza ends in a heap?

Author's note: If a civilian dies as a result of a bomb dropped from a plane or one dies after being shot by a deranged soldier, is the outcome any different? While a huge opportunity exists for talking right now, will politicians just scramble to satisfy constituent anger? During an interview, the Israeli father of a kidnapped daughter pleaded for dialogue rather than more violence. Is empathy for this father and daughter possible?

I find it interesting that everyone supports Ukraine even if they too may have "unintentionally" killed innocent lives. I mean, it's mostly Russia doing bad stuff, but I don't know of any countries at war where civilians do not become casualties on either side. Maybe I am wrong about that and Ukraine has not killed any innocent civilians. War really sucks. It's awful and occurs on both sides of conflicts. The problem with the conflict between Israel and Hamas is that it's not incidental. Neither side seems to care about the other side's civilians who may have nothing to do with the fighting. I suspect Ukraine has targeted some Russian targets in Moscow that would involve civilians in an effort to erode support for Putin. It's awful as you say.

The world could be a beautiful place if we had leadership that explained the advantages of peace. Unfortunately, many are on the defense payroll and there’s a class of rulers without empathy for their own people or others.
