wash up and lock our doors
overnight we’re told to stay indoors
while mankind is under attack
it’s the best we can do to win a war
against our invisible common enemy
time caught in a meaningless loop
like everyone I hold my breath and introspect
I look to past memories with gratitude
realizing we can’t take life for granted
I try to be my own best friend
within these walls of isolation
never was it clearer how both
joy and freedom reside within
appreciating time alone
unlearning accumulated
false deadlines and necessities
pretend friends and priorities
life being random
all you can do is bring out
the best of yourself
and spin the wheel
it’s luck of the draw but
attitude remains a choice
no matter what stay positive
complaining is self-defeating
make the best out of every situation
lest we suffer the fate of fallen dinosaurs
