Is This a Friend, I Ask You

Is this a friend, I ask you! "Oh, you are dying?I really could care less. I have a garden to attend to, for folks to impress. I live in a state of eternal busy-ness. No heart of mine, shall I share. See, I am vacuuming my stairs, Aren't you impressed?" "I am retired and busier than a leader of any great nation. Small house, dead husband Forty year old still living with me. Permanently, cemented in and stationed.  I must be there for her each second, don't you see?" "Stop texting or  emailing me. I am dedicated to my house, not people, don't you get it? I am a master of pretense that I am your friend. But to tell you the truth, I don't care about you nor when your life ends.!"      ........................... Thank God poets are not so brazenly shallow.  They care about life more and  each other, far from hollow. And yet we don't really have long pasts together.  We live in the present, all over the world, free and untethered. Sure, a few are arrogant but most are a very caring lot. Consider yourself, very blessed, poet! Part of glorious flowers, God's special aggregate. Love to all, Panagiota Romios June 27,2019

Real friends are very rare Pangie, you summed it up perfectly, I'd rather be hurt by the truth, than be comforted with a lie, false friends should be avoided at all costs.

It is sonderfyl to have just a few friends. I am not trying to be a rockstar here or anywgere else, it was interesting to read what I wrote five years ago, compared to now and see if my blood pattern changed. Thank you John for being a standby friend..

You captured the essence of a non-friend in this one. It captivated me from the first line: " "Oh, you are dying?I really could care less." Darling! Well done. Bravo!

Love that caricature you've created in the first part of the poem... I actually know a few people like that... The scary part is that I'm related to them... Yecccchhhhhh!....My wife says that I am the 'white sheep' of my family, although I am regarded (by some of them) the other way. Oh, well... La-di-da. :) gw

Unfortunately, that is a childhood friend, not just a caricature. Yes, relatives, can act the same way. My Cousin who died of cancer at age 40 and I were called black sheep as we moved to CA! Both of ....very Indepedent and adventurous souls..Family wanted us glued to Chicago. We reveled in being that moniker! Panagiota...thanks for your comments.

I am for hire_))). Thank you for sending love back. Ghosting is a method people use to not be in touch with you, under the guise they are busy..for months on end. It's aggravating. I find poets to be quite responsive! As I said in the poem. P.R.

I have no time for shallow people, there have been one or two trolls on here but thankfully they are now gone. Tom.
