Is the Lord Just a Scarecrow

Is the Lord just a scarecrow
     watching over my fields

Is He no more than a guard dog
     springing from his heels

Nay the Lord is my shepherd
     I am His treasure

With love He watches over me
     Tenderly guards my family

Gosh, so sweet of you to notice. Someone told me that this poem is near the bottom of the list somewhere. Scarecrow must have had the straw scared out of him. ~ Cowardly Lion

The Lord is not at our beck and call, nor inactive as you have said via metaphor. Indeed, He is our Shepherd and tenderly guards. I’m sure your heart is raw from the happenings in Israel. I’ve prayed that God will intervene, and set the captives free. Hugs:)

So much more you can do with this. It's just a good start.

Dear Situation, The word 'just' does not belong in your comment. 'It's a good start' would have been fine... Poetry Soup is a site for 'encouragement and growth,' for 'positivity,' as the instructions for posting comments state. Please adhere to those instructions, or else please do not continue to comment on my poems. ~ gw

So true Gershon. The Lord is the scarecrow, the shepherd, and the very field we stand upon.

Surely Ubiquitous, as well as Omnipotent and Omniscient.

I love the idea of an active God, not a passive one - thanks for articulating this, Gershon - very deep in it's apparent simplicity :)

I am sure someone asks this question daily. And I agree He is my Shepard too!
