Irradiated Society - Upside Down World

I wonder why,
Several hundred years ago,
The Yorktown Brits
Played a drinking tune for surrender.
Maybe they thought they were drunk?
Maybe they thought they’d be drunk
The second they got home?
Whatever, nevermind history.
We’ll just loop the tape,
Play it back every century or so.
Now? I won’t go out with a sign,
Say that the worst president has arrived.
Frankly, I don’t think that.
Now don’t lynch me because of it.
First amendment, alright?
Freedom of speech. Something many don’t have.
Be grateful it’s here while it is.
Well, we’ll remember him. That, at least, is true.
But I wonder; in several years,
I’ll play a drinking tune and tip them down,
The bubbling irritating my throat,
Tears running down my cheeks.
Will they be of sadness,
Of seeing an idol, a changer, leave?
Or will they be of happiness,
Of being released from tyranny?
We’ll remember in the future,
Pass down the stories to the generations
Inheriting our messed-up, irradiated society.
That, at least, is true and always will be.

Well said J. I like this a lot and I agree the new pres. is the best man for the job. And he has quite a job ahead of him. As for the world being upside down I also agree. All we can do is batten down our hatches and try to prepare for the worst. Great job. God Bless, JB

I am looking at an upside down world as seen through the eyes of one sitting on the fence, wondering and musing at people's messed-up decisions. Unfortunately choices effect not just America, but also the rest of the world! Regards // paul
