Iron Curtains
The Iron Curtain
She wears a dress of sweetest
pink
Planting diamonds dime a
dozen
Atop her rooftop garden
Leaving pails of gold redundant
If she'd had any
In the dark, now on her bed
Nothing to do but wail and cry
Nothing but to wait to die
Thinking of the better times
If she'd had any
She sits, she sits, behind the
walls
And iron curtains, iron doors
Behind, the dreams she keeps
from me
The thoughts and smiles I long
to see
The stars, the stars that form in
eyes
Tentative to be despised
But refrain? Then you'll receive
In the Lord's eyes, victory.
O'er men that claim to be.
She sits, she sits, behind the
walls
And iron curtains, iron doors
Behind, the dreams she keeps
from me
The thoughts and smiles I long
to see
In her heart, only fear
In her mind, only white
In her soul, only beauty
That we'd seen in a long-
forgotten dream
She sits, she sits, behind the
walls
And iron curtains, iron doors
Behind, the dreams she keeps
from me
The thoughts and smiles I long
to see
The love and soul I wait to see
