Introspection

I shall make sure my heart is in the right place Meditating, I look into myself, introspectively, I must always be able to look myself in the face I shall make sure my heart is in the right place, Justifying why I’ve been given a coveted space It is always a good thing to observe reflectively I shall make sure my heart is in the right place Meditating, I look into myself, introspectively.

Introspection is a scary endeavor / and takes fearless courage. / It's bad enough we all have to / see ourselves daily in a mirror! – Maurice

I'd say it certainly can be, Maurice. OTOH, some folks don't want to look inside, lest they see their underlying motives.

My Yoga Teacher, our sons, our daughter in law, my neighbor, all have explained to me how to meditate, I simply can't what is wrong with me! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Perhaps you are trying too hard? Try just sitting quietly, perhaps with eyes closed, and let your mind wonder where it will. Try to find a place without noise, music, or other distraction, and sometimes that is the hardest part!

I am surprised by those people who do not realize how important this is "I must always be able to look myself in the face"

It truly is, my dear friend. If you can't look yourself in the face, you have real problems!

Meditation is a good way to become centered and tranquil. Unfortunately, I usually have my feet firmly on the ground with my head in the clouds, which stretches things pretty thin. Must start meditating. Robert

Meditating is always calming to the mind, heart, and soul, Robert. Good luck in your efforts.

An excellent Triolet Milton. It is never too late to say you are sorry even after the person is no longer here in my experience. Blessings xxoo

That's pretty much how I feel, Kim, in all decision-making. I have to find out what my gut says and how my heart feels.

It never hurts to take stock of ourselves now and again, how we think and see the world and try to change the things we're not happy with. Tom

Milt, your poem so evokes our pilgrim process - "I shall make sure my heart is in the right place." I think the triolet is a perfect form to gently push your theme across the finish line. Pure introspection toward the goal of ultimate perfection! Thank you for sharing your journey, the desires of your heart, so eloquently.

I agree with your evaluation of Milton's poetic talent, Marco. He is quite skilled in many poetic forms and is a fine asset to the site because of his many wonderful posts and the comradery he shows to all poets, despite being harassed by a few. The integrity and value of this man goes far beyond his mastery of the pen.

We see in this poem what I call 'variations on the same theme'!!! a circular poem that marks a reflection, fixes an idea and isolates an image that catches the eye. Milton always surprises with beautiful, touching and unusual resources. We rarely find negative aspects when the writing is as accurate and special as that of this guy who is one of the best poets in Poetry Soup. Congratulations my friend.
