Intoxicated

Can such lonely words be more beautiful?
Screaming pleas - just hear me out
I don't have words enough to express this...
The toxicity is mixed in a sea of doubt
They say all the time "it hurts like hell"
Maybe my personal hell has become my friend
Inescapable fire and shadows follow me
Too much to extend, I can't see the end

Intoxicated by love, incapacitated by fear
Escalating when you come near
Suffocated by doubt, Surprised in the light
That you still say I'm worth the fight
Intoxicated, elated, but it's all isolated
In the screams that won't disappear

Could someone else just get how I feel?
Screaming pleas - I'm desperate now
Take me out of the dark, don't let me return
Just save me from this somehow
I put myself here, so how is it fair?
I guess I need to get myself out of the fire
But as much as I loathe the consuming flames
The pain doesn't retire, it's getting more dire

Intoxicated by love, incapacitated by fear
Escalating when you come near
Suffocated by doubt, Surprised in the light
That you still say I'm worth the fight
Intoxicated, elated, but it's all isolated
In the screams that won't disappear

Beauty, pain, love's a flame
And part of it hurts like hell
Depression, obsession, and who's to blame?
I was alone the day that I fell
Intoxicated, elated, and it's all concentrated
In you, but I'd never tell

Intoxicated by love, incapacitated by fear
Escalating when you come near
Suffocated by doubt, Surprised in the light
That you still say I'm worth the fight
Intoxicated, elated, but it's all isolated
In the screams that won't disappear

Can such lonely words be expressed out loud?
I'm screaming, I'm pleading - just hear me out

Also a compelling journey. Even more so, I imagine, as a performance piece that is about peace but not at all peacefilled. About longing more than belonging, and yet seeing one could not be without the other. Warmly, Gerald Oliver

"I was alone the day that I fell" That line alone is super powerful. All I have to say is WOW. This is a beautiful poem. When we fall so hard, sometimes we fear we are losing ourselves, and is there any consolation through words? Sometimes it is inexpressible. That's what I got out of it. I like your style. Always, Laura

Nice lyric Juli-Michelle, I can hear this as a power ballad in the Evanescence vein. Would be great set to amazing guitars, enjoyed!
