Notes About The Poem

Into the Vapenouz Woods of Voroznezh

"Has solitude ever led your steps down a forest path . . . "
                             Quote by Constance La France

Into the vapenouz woods of Voroznezh
befooled by the curvenouzh, twistezh woodwayl
Wandered witlezh in frenzhied askewness
lozhing my witzh in a labyrzhthine mazhe

Emergent in shzadoz a carnozhine Bedlamizh
gormlizh and gruezhome, ghazhtly and ghozhtly
mezhugga, wizhered, zhomewhat confuzhed
Geozhationary, zhtrange, it zhtood in zhe way

“I’m lozht,” I lamenzted in a zhin, zhaky voice
He bluzhtered and dizhered in unuzhal zhtyle
Zhen zhuprizhingly pointing in farzhical pozhe
“Eazh- Veszh is zhe way to your fazhaway home.

I'm not sure if I should be worried or not because I understood it all - despite vogon poetry being the third worst in the universe. Mr J. B. Wocky would be proud SuZ. Cheers - Gary

This is all new to me. Suzanne, always willing to learn though, and yes so clever you are, on this creative poetry, and didn't need a looking glass neither. Love it.

Glad you enjoyed this one, Harry: My method for writing this was to get a wordlist of adjectives and basically alter them into a kind of Jabberwocky story. A fun exercise. Hope you’re well. SuZ

At first when I read it fast, I thought this was another unknown language to me (lol) After taking my time reading it a second time, it's written brilliantly, Suz. Love the story too! Best wishes in the contest...Charlie

I don't know anything about Vogon but to me this seemed like Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf!! Cool writing!

Thanks Andrea: Jabberwocky from Through the Looking Glass /Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol, was one of the first word nonsense poems. Vogons, who are a fictional alien race from the planet Vogsphere in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy we’re the first one’s responsible for horrible poems. Try it. SuZ

Extra, extra fine writing, Suz. Not many of us can write convincing Vogon, but you certainly can! I thoroughly enjoyed reading and deciphering your lines. BofL in the contest.

I really appreciate these words, Milt, ….from someone as prolific as you are with writing poetry. I have always wanted to attempt a Jabberwocky style poem but this is my first time finishing one. No longer a VOGON virgin….LOL SuZ
