Interstellar Journey

The darkened ship voyaged on For 50 years alone voyaging along The ship looked after itself on this journey While its cargo of passengers were sleeping care-free For the earth was long behind them As they left the Solar System’s end The first interstellar travellers they travelled onwards Relying on the ship to find a new home with its own rewards So into uncharted regions they flew The stars and planets the only background too Then during this endless night Another spaceship encountered them in a routine flight The aliens on this craft took them into their ship Then to their world to decide what to do with it As it was the first time they were seen These earth man who slept in their silver ship that gleaned And so the decision was made By the supreme one who had said These beings aren’t a part of us So they were killed without a fuss. © Paul Warren Poetry
