Intermission Trip
He
left his
cowboy hat
on interstate
seventy- five
double crosses
both belong to his love
but she to the Kingdom
his cheating lips kissed too many bottle necks
We promised him refuge from his own mind
But he only bargained for more time
And those Words were just cold steel blankets
Over a warm body, so he hung his boots
From the willow tree, over our Altar place
Surprise colored me
As he
Wept for
Us
