Here, in this haiku (or senryu), I try to capture the poignancy and tragedy of the plight and loss of innocence of so many millions of children in other parts of the world who are forced every year to leave their homes and childhoods behind because of either extreme impoverishment or because they are no longer wanted by their parents for allegedly bringing public disgrace or shame to their families and so forth.

Forsaken, a girl roams the Calcuttan “jungle,”— she weeps in silence.

Beautifuly senryu Ngoc, I sometimes hear about these things happening, surely these things belong in the past where they belong. Tom

Thank you, Tom! Sadly, these crimes still happen in many parts of the world, I'm afraid. Ngoc. :-(
