Innocence and foolishness

Innocence and foolishness,
Can only last so far.
A single betrayal and it's all a mess,
Leaving a permanent scar.

It's my fault, is it not? I ask no one
To be blind, so credulous
and give someone the gun,
Leaving me hollow and tremulous.

Years go by, the pages turn.
I find bliss and tranquility
But the scar still burns,
Forever etched, as a burden in the mind's fragility.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
