Inner Solace

A beast lives within,
for love he has not.
In anger he cries,
for love he has not.
First he must befriend a dark shadow
before he can have his heart.

For so long pain has given him inner strength
for he is a man that fights a shadow,
but ever so slowly that shadow grows weak,
for the mans heart was never meek.
and even though the shadow slowly disappears
the man extends his hand in love and friend-ship for he feels its pain.

For many tears, the shadow survived in a lonely dwelling
but friend or foe no one deserves to die alone, even the alter ego.
Dear Lord, have mercy on his empty shadow.
