Inner Peace

When life is not so sweet
And I need a retreat,
Then carry me away
To a desert isle
Where I may while
Away the cares of yesterday.

Let a gentle breeze fan palms
Where beneath I lay.
Let the warm sun caress me
And take my pain away.
Let cool clear waters ripple
Over the contours of my mind,
Easing me.
Releasing me.
Leaving all sorrow behind.

When life is hard for me to face;
Carry me to my secret place,
To my island of calm and peace,
Where no harm can come to me
Where my mind can be free
And all my worries cease.

While troubles abound me
Peace will surround me.
Nothing can hurt me.
It will not desert me.
It will not reject me,
My island will protect me.
When life’s chains bind,
Let me be free....
Carry me to the island
That is within me.

This is a form of meditation and learning to relax.
