I fly with the gull
And breathe the color of salt
Hear the surf's repeating song
I came this way long ago
And return to find my path

Hi, Barbara. I am so glad I noticed your comment to someone else's tanka just now. You were telling them how you would try my contest and I was curious to know why yours had not made my list. As I went back to see, I noticed for some reason this one got left off my winner's list by mistake and so I added it on just now.I truly love this one. In the future, don't capitalize the lines of a tanka. But wow, this one's message is simply amazing!!!! congrats in my contest, dear.

Barbara, what an outstanding tanka this is! It is amazing how the few well chosen words in this poem express a multitude of visions to the mind. This is going into my fav's. I hope you will have a wonderful New Year!
