Inescapable

The young and the older,
the outliers fevered and deranged,
found momentary peace
but could not hide
from the tempest of demons loathed.
Closer to the edge
now closer the edge.
The women and the children,
the soldiers wounded and maimed,
found momentary shelter
but could not hide
from the wrath of their ruler scorned.
Closer to the blade
now closer the blade.
Yards underfoot conceded,
miles of oblivion on the march,
outer wars witnessed,
inner wars, no quieter, quietly denied,
die, or go mad and die.

Thought provoking poetry, DB Law. Very cerebral faster-than-sight elevation w/a visceral after burn boost. Astroidal muse free-floating in the void of apathy. Great write! Love and peace always.

An inescapable conclusion is that you are indeed yourself a poet's poet my great friend. So descriptive of the reality of tyranny, war, death, lives destroyed and and the dark ravages of Fate.. A fav, a brilliant creation.

A very powerful ending to this deep poem you wrote. In your words: inner wars, no quieter, quietly denied, die, or go mad and die. Truth in life hard to escape.

Insanity is a peaceful solution of sorts. At least there is hope in it. Kind wishes, Kai

Maybe so. Sometimes, though, it's hard to know the difference.
