Inertia

Inertia

Blocked by walls of fear;
 Paralyzed footsteps - can’t breathe;
  Struck by indecision’s stones
   Stuck in time, the soul;

Reason crippled, heartbeats numbed -
Inertia casts blackest spells.

Congrats Sam, on your 1st [place--this poem, to me at least, is darker than some readers seem to see--is not 'inertia' really code for depression [a beast that once almost did me in]???

Clever stuff here Sam. So clever, I had no problem overcoming it to write this laudatory review...inertia, dear bard. Congratulations.

Sam, you did so well in capturing complex human reality in 38 syllables. There is real wisdom here, a real empathy. One of your darker writes. Happy to see you receive a #1 placement with it. ~ John

Thank you so much Caren! I am honored by your message. I just tried to remember the feeling of inertia and not being able to move either forward OR backwards! Hope you are healthy. Stay well. Prayers and Blessings.

Sam, I know what this feels like. You've hit on all the low points: indecision, reason crippled, the fear of venturing out, paralysis. I'm in awe of your insight and conversion to concise, relateable words. Great title too. Well done, friend, and GL in the contest ~ John
