Independence

Freedom rang across the valley Battles quiet in a moment of silence Independence day has given her life purpose Free to walk without pain Free to live in harmony Free to give to others each day Free to make her house a home Smiles and laughter flow at liberty Torture has ended....life with peace began!

Freedom is indeed something to be valued, but I'm not sure that torture has ended and that life with peace is quite here. When I hear of the terrible atrocities in Syria and other countries, I can only weep.
