Indelible

Sands in her hand
     trickle as she closes
        her palm to grip them;
She tries to clinch
    every grain that flows
         for it holds memories
of heartbeats~
      indelible in her heart.

those heartbeats still echo~

and as the last grain drops
       She whispers to the wind,
           “ come back to me!”

Each falling grain of sand reminds me of events slid through the fingers of time especially of childhood and I murmur-'come back to me' ! Lovely penning, Jez !

Your poems have a unique JCB touch... Loved the magic created by each grain of sand, the memories and the heartbeats... Congrats my friend... Hugs.. ~ Ani

Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole's duet of 'Unforgettable' rings in my ears as I read this. It's that good. Bravo, gw
