In Winter's Dusk

In winter’s dusk so hopeless and forlorn, a new bird's song burst forth; it gave me pause. Though earth and heaven both had seemed to mourn in winter’s dusk so hopeless and forlorn, a sanguine melody that night was born. I pondered but I could not guess the cause! In winter’s dusk so hopeless and forlorn a new bird's song burst forth; it gave me pause.

Very nice, Andrea, in the spirit of a haiku, or satori, a sudden insight brought on by nature.

just figured out whose contest it had been in. Below here, Carrie says the name of the guy who gave me the N/A. I don't know why but for a period of time, he kept giving me N/A's!!!

I wake up each morning to the birds singing and wonder how can you sing on such a cold winters day. They do raise my spirits for if they can sing I should rise up and sing too. Nicely done on this triolet.love phyl

Reminds me of a walk I recently took along a river...caught up in the moment as the bird announces evening with his new song...wonderful writing!!

I really like the repeated line - bookends - and the almost-color sanguine. J

I love the chanting quality about this one, Andrea-- and it's both solemn and beautiful at the same time

Yes, that was the Kee bird. This bird sits on a frozen branch in dead of winter saying, "Kee, kee, keerist it's cold up here! This would win the Audubon award. (spelling) It has won my best comment. Love, daver

This is so beautiful my dearest friend Andrea! Another outstanding masterpiece indeed! So love it! Thank you so much for sharing and your precious time stopping by. My dad's anniversary is this coming 29th. That poem was supposed to be in PD's dark poem contest but I was late. So I entered it in her next contest. Again thank you so much! It's holiday here and has just woke up. Have a blessed time there! Good luck and best wishes in the contest! love and big hugs, Leonora

I really love this triolet...winter's dusk...sanguine melody...oh, that's good stuff, Andrea. You always please...and my day was peaceful yesterday. I spent most of it roaming around the river-bottoms looking for arrowheads.
