In Time

Had we loved
In time,
It all would
Have fallen right into
A different place,
A working cocoon
Where compatibility
Would have sat
Like a lazy summer sun,
But only
If we had grabbed that moment
Without fear
Like there was no tomorrow,
Instead
We let it go
All of it,
Casting it into
The dim ocean
Of another lifetime.
