In The Wind
Alone I take a long hard look in broken pieces of a mirror.
The end I see that's meant for me is suddenly much clearer.
Filled with fear but not for me for when my time is through.
For myself I'm not afraid the fear I feel's for you.
Sometimes it seems that life's unfair and it can be demanding.
So the things I say to you is for your own understanding.
When you wake to find me gone don't turn loose of your smile.
Be grateful as I am with you, at least I had you for awhile.
Don't think of things I said or done that you struggled with forgiving.
Remember me and joy we made. Remember me for living.
Don't think about those memories as back before I died.
Remember that I promised you I'd be there by your side.
Don't let your poor heart question if it's a promise I can keep.
Believe I'm watching over you beside you as you sleep.
Listen when I call to you you'll hear me in the wind.
My hands reaching out to you, good to see you my dear friend.
You'll feel me sometimes late at night when discouraged tears you cry.
Leaving goosebumps on your body I'll wipe teardrops from your eye.
You can see me almost anytime no matter day or night.
It's me here now that comforts you in these few words I write.
For as long as I have been with you, as long as we have been together.
Everything I gave to you will be with you for forever.
For though I'm standing close to you it's not for you to see.
It brings me pain and sorrow to see you cry for me.
Oh I know that days will come when you start feeling blue.
And though I wait here silently I'll see tears fall from you.
But heaven won't be heaven as far as I can see.
If crying is all that remains of what once was you and me.
Cling to all our memories of the things that we went through.
And show me that you loved me the way that I love you.
Laugh like no one hears you. Go out and help a friend.
Smile at a stranger. I am with you in the wind.
