In the Shadows

"If only we choose to see" the invisible people, Who live in shadows The sad people with broken dreams Lost in a world of greed No one sees their needs As they wander like gypsies trying to survive Broken people everywhere Sleeping here and sleeping there, "In slumber they abide" Within their well of tears Yet they are not alone, We too are broken people Lost in an illusion, "If only we choose to see"... 9-28-19 Pick A Line Any Line - Contest Sponsor: Richard Lamoureux Line used from my Poem: "In Slumber They Abide" from poem of the Same Title.

Nicely penned ~ both tragedies are generally misunderstood and ignored.

Hey Joseph loved this poem, glad it's receiving it's due recognition, this write reminds me of a story I just posted, the homeless poet, maybe you would like it!

Potent penning, the last stanza so very true. We live lives of illusion and delusion, most of us (myself definitely included). Excellent! Blessings, gw

Oh my, there is so much truth within these words from your heart. So sad indeed, the broken and the lost. Those in need. Your thoughts caress gently around me and my heart. I wish to place this in my favorites. "If only we choose to see" I completely agree. ~ Brandy

I love the concept of comparison in this empathetic poem Joseph. We can not keep turning a blind eye to their circumstances for one day we may walk that shadowed path. Beautiful! : ) xxoo
