In the Realm of Poppycock

In the realm of poppycock sidewalks sing When stepping on melodies in the cracks, You’ll enjoy the height of the smallest thing The exotic ponies with pink-striped backs. Beware the cows returning from the moon Loving brown bears will cuddle with you, The sweetest hymn is the song of the loon, For everything here is an imagination zoo. Hills are covered with marshmallow plants Mules dance in the street just for sheer fun Both boys and girls wear polka-dotted pants, And all the richest folks have money none. The bakers bake cookies at breakneck speed While trains run on tracks made of candy, No one, not a single person ever has a need All who live here think everything’s dandy! In Poppycock you can believe what you hear For fact and fancy are all mixed together, Since every hour the clock chimes a cheer And all is perfect … even the weather.

I love the realm of poppycock and yet this not poppycock at all "And all the richest folks have money none."

Oh, I don't wish them harm, merely that they might find out what it's like to be the common folk.

Such an amazing place! This fantasy reminded me of Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain" a lovely song. This is a delightful write, Milton.

Not hardly, Anaya. That's way too far back for me! Thanks, anyway.

Ah Milt, the euphoria of even visiting such a place, much less living there! With apologies to the Beatles...I think I'm gonna be glad. I think it's today, yeah. In Poppycock, nobody's sad, so I'm going away. I've got a ticket to ride. How long can we stay?

Intersperse the humorous with a few drips of serious. Make sure you try reading the same lines when you're shopping for the correct magnification.

As long as you like, dear Jenna! Just got back from the eye doctor. All is going well. He recommends some cheap reading glasses at Dollar Tree. I was near-sighted. Now, I'm far-sighted. I suspect I'm through with the Land of Poppycock. They've been fun writes, but I'd rather be more serious.

This one is certainly different Milton, A mix of Willy Wonka, and strawberry fields forever, or maybe you’ve been down the rabbit hole again, imaginative writing I enjoyed the trip, cheers David

Thanks, David. When I am strapped for serious ideas, sometimes these kinds of poems keep me going. Glad you enjoyed the trip.

Great place to visit Milton. I think it will put Disneyland out of business. I am going up to the hills and getting some Marshmallow Plants. Sounds like a plan. Hope your recovery is going well. I think your vision has improved, since your posting. Speedy recovery I wish for you, relax... and recharge your muse...

Just saw the eye doctor. He said I'm fine. I was nearsighted, but now I'm farsighted and don't need glasses to drive. That's good, but I need to get some reading glasses for the computer and everyday reading.

I love Poppycock and often go there for inspiration, I usually take the road through Little Musings and Upper Meandering on my way to meet the fairies, regards, Kevin

So far, so good, Tom. Take the A Train to Fascination Station. Get off at the Yellow Brick Road and follow it to Penny Lane. Then, go Somewhere Over the Rainbow to the other side of Moon River, in the vicinity of Scarborough Fair. Got it?
