Notes About The Poem

Listen to poem:

In the Midst of the King

Humbly approaching, bowing in reverence
Acknowledging nothing I bring
But a soul that implores You, a heart that adores You
A child in the midst of the King
Believing Your promise, assured of fulfillment
Boldly I cast doubt aside
To ask and receive, to seek and to find
To knock ‘til the door opens wide
It starts with the fear of the Lord
Awesome, unequaled in power
Vast comprehension, the source of all truth
It starts with the fear of the Lord

Spirit of wisdom, Spirit of knowledge
Spirit of counsel and might
Fountain of learning, enlightened instruction
Brings riches and honour and life
Supreme understanding, enduring forever
Equity, strong confidence
Boundless discretion, treasure of justice
A perfect, complete sustenance
It starts with the fear of the Lord
Our fortress, our shield, our high tower
Vast comprehension, the source of all truth
It starts with the fear of the Lord

Wisdom and knowledge and justice
Starts with the fear of the Lord
Equity, subtlety, judgement
Starts with the fear of the Lord
Learning, discretion, wise counsel
Starts with the fear of the Lord
Supreme understanding, enlightened instruction
Starts with the fear of the Lord
Vast comprehension, the source of all truth
Starts with the fear of the Lord
Boundless discretion, strong confidence
Starts with the fear of the Lord
Enduring forever, complete sustenance
Starts with the fear of the Lord

It starts with the fear of the Lord
