In the Dark

In the Dark  2-5-26
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the Dark...
The window swings open
 Pushed by humidity's breath
Night pouring through filling my room
 With it 's blackness and it's magic
As sounds of the restless city
 Pulse in the darkness
Toss the turn
 Whirl and spin on restless legs.
Rhythms of a midnight mambo
 Sway above dreamer's dreams
In bits of shimmery
 Weaving drowsy spells
That I hear like an electric hum
 That speaks in bits of passing day
To lay a gentle hand of peace
 In visions on my night.
Though the city rests in sleep
 The streets, still nodding, sway
To lullabies of broad ways
 In tempos of moontime blues
And when the first light
 Races moonlight tripping over dawn
City sounds resolve
 Into my midnight sighs.
engaging words with your signature imagery and a flow that made for a delightful read. I especially liked: Rhythms of a midnight mambo Sway above dreamer's dreams In bits of shimmery Weaving drowsy spells sending you hugs & blessings
Hi Sara, thank you so much for your delightful feedback! I was hoping to capture that feeling of the city at night in a rhythmic dance. I wrote this one summer night and even though most of the city was asleep there was still a sense of her vibrant pulse. So glad you liked it! Had fun thinking about dancing with midnight!! Hugs and blessings!
Hi Paige! This was written one summer night with all of the windows open. As I fell asleep I could feel the "pulse" of the city as I wound down from the hectic day. It was like a swaying dance. Thank you for sharing in these quiet moments! Blessings to you! Happy Valentine's Day!
Some cities never sleep, I was born and raised in a city but over thirty years ago moved out into the countryside, I don't regret it. Have a lovely weekend Sam. Over Fork Over. Tom
Greetings Tom! Agreed. Cities do have insomnia! There are times when that "hum" puts me to sleep, especially when I hear the sound of a lonely freight train but I also love the quiet lullaby of the countryside. So lucky you get to enjoy that peacefulness at night. Have a wonderful Valentine's Day. Over Fork Over!
