Notes About The Poem

Choosing whimsy with Tom Woody's I Choose To Dwell In The Clouds Poetry Contest

________________________________________________________________________

In the Clouds

Around me I see stupidity,
but up in the sky what do I see?
Cute fluffy figures float through the blue.
I think in the clouds I’d choose to be.

Hatred spews forth from the mouths of some.
Will they one day be attacking me?
Not just with words – perhaps bodily?
I think in the clouds I’d choose to be.

Bad luck too comes more often than not.
From misery I can’t seem to flee.
Perhaps I should try to get a bit high.
I think in the clouds I’d choose to be.

The Lord for sure dwells beyond the clouds.
He’s nearer up there. Would you agree?
I don’t think Calmay will take me away!
I think in the clouds I’d choose to be.

Here I am! You asked on my poem for your contest whether or not I nested with marijuana and now, above, you've written about trying to get a bit high! Great poem. I noticed it doesn't have to be a new poem (a lot seem to do that now.) Your entry is both serious and playful, dramatic, too, I'm thinking, in a Scarlot O'Hara way. Check SoupMail ... CayCay

Andrea, glad this is for a contest. Life can be tough. You've mentioned being surrounded by fools, living in fear, and suffering in misery. I think I would want to be in the clouds too!

Misery is the big one, Duke. I try not to live in fear and try not to let fools get to me.

Andrea, I like and applaud the fact that you recognize the evil in this world in a way that's not overtly "in your face" but gets the message across in an honest and poetically uplifting sort of way. Only you can make this kind of magic. Well done my poetic friend /// Kudos

Dear Andrea, I absolutely loved it is so wistful and sharp-edged, floating between disillusionment and hope. I felt the weight of the world below, the longing for something lighter, holier. Yet, there’s wonderful resilience in your words, a quiet strength that refuses to be dragged down. A beautifully layered piece, truly. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Yes, those clouds look so light, fluffy and airy. It is a delightful dream to be a highflyer up above all the cares of this world. This one reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Thanks for sharing it with us. Sara K

I know...sometimes we feel all alone...forsaken. Pain is never conducive to Faith. You are tough...hang in there. Blessings my friend. Best of luck with contest. A profound, heartfelt write.
