In the City of Gilded Glamour
In the city of gilded glamour,
slow motion is seen as an outsider;
a slip of tongue is as common as mocking grins!
They turn around and criticize,
cursing back with offensive slangs
at anyone without rush who hates to apologize!
It's in Times Square we actually met,
above digital lights spun our heads...
while our silly minds were ready to project
a hook-up suited for indulgent swingers!
I splashed the typical smile of a clown,
and waved at you attempting to flag down
a yellow cab to the Penthouse of my uptown hotel
with a breathtaking view of cruise ships about to sail!
You responded in a kind manner and said,
" Hey, handsome stranger what brings you here?
There are better places than this crowded square,
where each single road meets the One with the Green Crown;
all lustful sins are allowed for extreme fun:
to hire a lady on high heels cost a ton of money:
squander it all at once as wealthy guys do, don't be too stingy! "
In the city of gilded glamour
there are pleasures only the rich can afford;
can anyone dress as stylish as Henry Ford?
Earning that respect will turn you into a god!
In the city of gilded glamour
there's no place for a humble working man to make him shine;
he struggles from day to day to survive drinking only wine!
