a single setback
prelude to an avalanche
health, friendships, property, finances
lay buried in angst, waiting for a thaw
life gone awry
paranoia intrudes
beast with talons scrapes the bones
behind each corner it waits
chameleon of many faces
anxiety’s confusing design
apprehension overcomes the victim
when perceiving camouflaged predators
who goes there
friend or foe
stomach knots, eyes tear
prey trembles in the beast’s pursuit
elusive is the light
that leads from the valley of trepidation
where tentacles of anxiety
choke the breath of reason
