In Primeval Wood

Surrounded in primeval wood, In awe of fern, and flower-- I attempted to delay the night By lengthening the hour. That day might last a minute more, Till my pondering was done-- Delaying, and for beauty's sake, The setting of the sun.

It sounds like you have had an interesting life. I too have lived many places. Several places in Ontario, Mexico, Florida, Brownsville Texas, Vancouver, Golden and for the last 16 years here in Kelowna. I am enjoying staying in one place.

Where are you originaly from and where are you living now? I have a dry sense of humor as well with a dash of sarcasm for good measure. I blame it on my mother. She is of German heritage.

I don't know who to blame it on; some great grandparent I guess. Then again, maybe I'm a prototype--an original. I was born in Burbank CA, across the street from the Disney Studios; the same hospital where Walt sadly died. Ironically, I would one day work for WED Enterprises, the creative arm of Disney productions, but that's another story. I have thousands. I lived near Burbank till I was seven, and then--thankfully--we settled in a very pretty rural town just 20 minutes south of Ventura. Thousand Oaks, or the Conejo Valley has been home ever since, except for the 2 years down under. It's a beautiful locale, and a lot of location filming is done in T.O. and nearby Hidden Valley and Lake Sherwood. I am a 20 minute drive from Malibu (home of the rich and famous) and about an hour from snow and skiing. I have surfed and skied in the same day--awesome! Gotta go read some poems. TGIF :) // mel

Canada for zero points but a high five for playing. I live in British Columbia in a city called Kelowna on the shores of Lake Okanagan. If you have ever had Missin Hill or Quails Gate wine, this is where it comes from. The climate is very similar to the Tuscany region of Italy.

You see, I wasn't far off. Canada does have a bit of a British/French flavor--depending on the region. Zero points? Nuts! Sounds like a beautiful place, though. Good seeing ya. I'll be stopping later this evening to see what genius lurks. Peace, mel // :)

I am not sure which I enjoyed more, your poem or your responses. You are not at a loss for words. You are a rather charming fellow. Glad to see you are enjoying the soup.

Thank you Richard. I'm glad that you appreciate my responses--and dry wit. My wit is so dry, that while living in Australia, they commented on it. And as you likely know, the Aussie--or British wit is pretty dry. By the way, where do you call home. I'm going with France for ten points--or the UK for twenty. Let me know Thanks for the visit. C-ya soon. // mel

Are ya drooling lol. FYI, I'm working on a lengthy free verse, which is a departure for me, but what the hell. I'll call A Winters Night in the Woods (maybe) about just that. A preview of coming attractions. Hope you like it. Thanks, Carol, for the visit and kind words. You're the best! Hugs :) mel

Andrea, long time no see. How are you? Silly question. You're a poet, which means your either in love, longing for love, grieving, angry, happy, sad, focused, confused, etc., and your mind is like a pinball game gone awry lol. Hey, thanks for the visit. C-ya soon. ;) mel
