Gina's New Voices Contest ~ January 28, 2025

As I awake from night's deep sleep morning light begins its grand sweep. Across the skyline, it unfurls as dewdrops hang like strands of pearls. Resembling tears, not those of grief, they quench the thirst of each dry leaf. On prismed drops they drink their fill as sunlight climbs above the hill. My flowers sup from Nature's tap. Their petals cupped so they could lap the nurturing moisture of life when lack of rainfall brings them strife. Sun has risen and morning broke. In the sky is a golden yolk. Its warmth has spread over the Earth. Each day is likened to rebirth. Twilight will find sunlight fading. Its hours are quickly abrading, but darkness will never hold sway~ Luna will not be kept at bay. With us, moonlight shares her soft glow, ruling the tides that ebb and flow. One more day that tells the story of nature in all its glory.

It is a beautiful view of the world Lin. It has elegant simplicity and describes the essence of light and water. BTW, thank-you for your recent comment!!

Lin, your poem is beautiful. But I don't think it's a kyrielle because the last line in each stanza should be repeating.

Thank you for the heads up, Connie. It's been some time since I've written one. I'll delete it from the contest.

Dear Lin, What a breathtaking journey of day and night. I kept thinking how each line is a wonderful tribute to nature's rhythm. There is a lot of great imagery here Lin, which makes me reflect and appreciate nature even more. Beautiful Kyrielle! Winter Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

There's so much more that could be written, but then I'd have to call a poem a novel! Thank you so very much for your comments, Daniel.

Nothing beats nature in all its glory, we only have to look around us, the beauty of it is every where. Good luck in the contest Lin. Tom

That's exactly right, Tom. Too many don't take the time to appreciate it in this rush around world. Thanks for your well wishes.

so poetic and yet so moving all at the same time. The beautiful side of being awoken from a deep sleep, this poem has quickly become my favourite to read. I hope you do well in the Gina's contest.

The more beautiful side of nature Lin, from sunrise to moonrise and all in between, a gem of a kyrielle, with clever subtle internal rhyme in stanza 3, great one for contest, I hope you are keeping well and enjoying the warmth, can’t remember when I seen the sun last lol, typical Irish weather, cheers David

I’d no idea Lin I’ve been living under a cloud of late, snowball fights what’s seldom is wonderful, I’m sure T-shirts and shorts will be back in fashion very very soon:)

It's wonderful to read a comment from you after your absence, David. You must not have heard of the snowstorm in New Orleans a week ago. Twelve inches in some places. What fun children had playing in it, but it held the city and suburbs hostage for several days.

It was written for Gina's contest. Thanks for your encouragement, Danny. Today is a good one and the sun has just burned the clouds away.
