In My Dreams Change

in my dreams (change)

sail in tiny birch bark boats
along the velvet dark streams
listen to the chuckle
of the invisible water
as she faithfully travels
toward the prayer of morning.

we drum quietly to waken
every living creature
with our mothers heart beat
the buds in the trees stir
the deer lay down with their fawns
life follows the canoes north.

winter parts before us
bows to the bringers of spring
wanders off in unkempt fashion
to sleep the living time away
on mountain tops and circles
at the ends of earth, so it goes.

I really do especially love reading your work when you associate it closely with the culture and mysticism of the native Red Indian...and this is no exception. It is in plain fact - exceptional!! Beautifully crafted, Patricia. Your friend. :) john
