Notes About The Poem

In My Dreams

In my Dreams
I dreamed in my dreams that I could sing That folk would find it worth listening I saw myself standing on a stage Below bright spotlighting glistening. With diamanté mike in my hand And fans all wildly, madly cheering I was in splendour of happiness And hoping that the world was hearing. Sadly when my song came to an end I found a silence was descending I believed I’d receive loud applause Truth was brutally condescending. I asked the Lord above what went wrong He said that I wasn’t meant for singing Tears slid down alike a mountain stream And my poor tortured heart was stinging. So I never sang a song again But in my dreams I was still wishing That I would be on the stage again But then, the wistful voice was missing. Though I had always dreamt I could sing Singing decidedly isn’t my thing. *+*+*+* 2nd June 2023

This is such a precious deep poem of a dream that many have had. You have a beautiful voice Belle, look at the words you write. We hear a voice, a tone, and depth. Some people can sing with their voices, you sing with your heart and pen, a most beautiful gift <3 This is a precious poem, I love it so much :) <3

I absolutely love this. i enjoy reading poems. they are definitely an inspirtation to me . most importantly they actually encourage me to see the brighter side of things. .... always remember though, when you sing to our Father in Heaven, you are a star and he thinks we all song beautiful. i also agree with a comment that was said previously, by jan allison. you are truely blessed with the gift of writting. your forte as she said

Thank you Sally, the songs I love to sing are hymns as you can sing your heart out and it doesn’t matter how you sound to God above as he knows we sing to Him with love. I truly appreciate what you said about the gift of writing… Belle

Belle~ you poetess you. This is so greatly done, I hope you know that. In reality, I know the joy of holding the diamanté Mike. No, not as a singer but a comedienne. It moved me when people asked for my autograph. The joy of performing and being good at it is a true high.I performed in SF and Chicago. Thank God, obscene jokes were not allowed by my comedy mentors.nor insulting an audience And I will not pen obscene poetry either. Poetry is dull compared to performing. I miss it…Pangie

Wow Pangie, you were a comedienne, I’d have loved to have seen you on stage. I understand that you find poetry dull compared to performing but your poems are never dull they’re enlightening and inspiring… Belle

Lovely poem. Once I formed part of a choir. Unfortunately, I became hoarse. I'm not even good to read at church.

Victor, I once joined a tuneless choir, they’re popular here, it was just up my street. I have read at church and though I was nervous at first I really enjoy it… Thank you, Belle

Hi Deb, pity that our dreams didn’t come true, but even if our voices aren’t good enough for anyone else to hear just sing, sing a song… Belle

Thank you Yann, I once went to an Abba tribute and one of the singers came down into the audience and asked if anyone would like to sing one of the songs, I volunteered and had the best night ever, had people coming up and congratulating me, dancing with me in the aisles too, not bad for someone who can’t sing… Belle

It so sad we we find out that our gifts arn't always what we think they are. It broke my heart to feel your disappointment after singing, Belle. Your poetry is now your voice my friend. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill

What we lack in certain skills we excel in others. If its any consolation I sound like Lee Marvin in Paint your wagon lol. Enjoy your weekend Belle, hope the good weather lasts. Tom

Thank you Tom, I’m afraid I sound like nothing on earth but that doesn’t stop me singing for all I’m worth. Have a good weekend too, we’re promised a sunny day tomorrow… Belle

This exquisite piece of poetry is a beautiful testament to the transformative power around us. Your vivid imagination and unbridled optimism bring to mind the iconic work, and it is heartening to see hopes and dreams realized in such a magnificent way. All the success and recognition you deserve in this contest.

Thank you so much Sotto for those words of encouragement. Truthfully I would love to sing, it would be a dream come true, my late sister sang beautifully, sadly I don’t… Belle
