In Honor of Milt
Love Conquers All – by L Milton Hankins
If asked to repeat a time-honored passage
I would say it is that “Love Conquers All,”
For, whatever the situation, it is the message
If asked to repeat a time-honored passage,
I'd pass this adage in my far-advanced age:
“Love Conquers All,” sends a clarion call,
If asked to repeat a time-honored passage
I would say it is that “Love Conquers All!”
I chose the poem “ Love Conquers All” of L Milton Hankins because
it is a well crafted Triolet poem, a difficult form in which I think he excelled,
and also because the essence of the theme he championed is reflected
in his interactions with and in his comments on poems of the fellow
poets at Poetry Soup. In fact, for me this poem embodies the message
he has been so keen to transmit as the “time-honored” “clarion call”,
for he conquered the hearts of so many PS poets by his caring and loving
attitude, despite often being misunderstood. The poem aptly reveals the
sentiments of many like me in the twilight years of “far-advanced age”.
These are the reasons I LOVE this poem.
