In His Book
In His Book
If I lived so long ago
At the creation of man
I wonder would I have
Stood strong in God's command
Or would I have eaten of
That tree famous for our fall
Tasting of the good and evil
Succumbed to the devil's call
If I could open the book
And have a look to see
What would the Lord
Have written of me?
If I'd been around
In those of Noah's days
When man was turned wicked
In all his thoughts and ways
Build an ark and climb aboard
Everything on earth to drown
Would God spare my family
Righteous in his eyes found
If I could open the book
Have just a look to see
I wonder what the Lord
Would have written of me
If I had been in Egypt
Working as an Hebrew slave
Witnessing a man said
Sent by God to save
Would I have believed
Prepared my things to go
Delivered from the plagues
Egypt would come to know
If I could open the book
Have a look to see
I wonder what God
Would have written of me
Now If you had been alive
And heard of a Virgin's birth
What would you believe
While Messiah walked the earth
What if he were to come
Return during our day
Standing here before him
What you he have to say
Perhaps one day
He may allow me a look
Happy I will be just to see
My name written in his book
