With a heavy heart, I smile
Remembering the One
Who is much stronger than I
Who listens to my every prayer
Who shows me that He cares
With a love that reassures
A love that is alive, a light pouring
Out His glory, His goodness
His ever abiding warmth and passion
Grace that is alive, everlasting
When I feel the grief that comes
When I remember… my heart’s defeat
The worry, the sadness, the despair
I reach out to the One who created me
With hope that He will lead me, feed me
With His nourishment, His scriptures
The assurance that He blesses, He protects
He heals and He promises to always be there
Always giving me the second chance,
The hope and prayer, the faith that is aware
His love is alive, His joy does abide.
With a heavy heart, I pray
For His love to take away this pain
The sorrow that seems to always remain
Even though I’ve tried unsuccessfully
To let go of the worst, forgive and forget,
Allow love to take control, to have faith, hope
To know the meaning of grace, mercy and peace
It is with a heavy heart that I say…
His love will heal me, someway, someday
For now I will feel this, the sorrow, the pain
But I know He will restore me with His love
His hope and His joy, the wonder of His glory
My heart is heavy, but His burden is light
I’ll follow Him forever… Until I see Him, so bright
Standing in the shadows, erasing all the doubt,
Reflecting the beauty of a heart restored through faith!
