In Desperate Hearts

In desperate hearts

                                           Like sunsets glow,
after a hard day is done
                                              Apologies flow
                                  after harsh words have stung

                                               Another day,
                                   and another heart will break
                                           And somehow, he
                                         justifies his mistakes

Sometimes a desperate heart will scheme
and with sharp words, cut down her dreams

But, when he raised his fists to strike
                                      should she stay with him?

                                            For he was raised
                                         beaten in a fitful rage
                                             Now it's her time
                                             to turn the page!

                                                   Chorus
And so it goes, the damage is done
                                           to desperate hearts
                                           to desperate hearts
And so it goes, the pain will stay
                                            in desperate hearts
                                            in desperate hearts

                                                 Chorus repeat
                                                 Chorus repeat
                                                         fade

Hi John! I like your song and the style of it.Do you write the music too? I am interested in writing songs too...especially since I can't help myself. I have to rhyme every time! lol

Hi Carole, thanks for the visit and comment. I do write music too, but I have so many songs already from years ago, that have not been picked up yet, so I lose enthusiasm for writing more melodies. Songwriting is easier for me than poems, not a big fan of structured writing.

Great formatting and structure and the song narrative rendered in a splendid rhyming and fine classic style. Kudos. pls do comment my latest poem on eclipse too.
