In Dark Isolated Places

the rain is pounding on well-hidden mounds of dirt I can imagine the sounds of ghostly cries in dark, isolated places

Wow, Andrea...hadn't read this before, but it gave me chills just now. So few words, but so very powerful in all that's conveyed. Congratulations on your big win! Sandra

Those "well hidden mounds of dirt" with bony hands thrusting up or a shallow buried vampire's coffin - just a few of the horrible images this wonderful creepy poem brings up. OOOOHHHHH WOOOOOOOOOOO. Love, daver

You create a dark, ghostly atmosphere by the use of imagery which can also be taken as being metaphorical. Could also be evil spirits pounding at our innermost concealed dark secrets #7 // paul

Could be interpreted as souls of those who died crying out for justice or those who are buried alive. Eerie and powerful images you've captured in a tanka. Way to go, Andie!

that is it exactly. But they were not necessarily buried alive. there have become too many of these places in our world today.

The shell of dark that surrounds the author’s words acts as a cocoon protecting her from the words. Emile.

Andrea, am I to understand that you will soon be directing Warner Bros. motion picture, 'Isolated'? Certainly sounds like it from this movie trailer.....
