In Another Life

In another place And in another time You said you would love me You would be mine In another day And in another life We could be together You would be my wife To many complications To many commitments already made To many others involved Could not hurt them, we were too afraid A soul shattering connection Greater than pleasure and skin Some might understand Others might say it was a sin I have loved before But never quite like this Nobody your equal I knew from our first kiss You said those three words first You said I love you I was what you dream of You knew it too You were my true love You were the one Though we are miles apart With you my heart will never be done I shuffle through each day For life I’ve lost the taste For a love this strong to be unfilled What a slap in the gods’ face A one in ten billion chance That our paths would cross We found each other But now all seems to be lost What if this is the only life That we get to live And here we sit quietly suffering With all this love for each other to give You said you are sad all the time Where you are, you hate Why would our love be this strong I think it must be fate I hope you can be happy I will burden the sadness for the two How much I love you You said you always knew In this life I will long for you Until my dying day I hope I recognize you in the next life To meet you again I will pray For now I sit at night Hoping we are looking at the same bright star No matter how far apart I will love you truly no matter where you are.
